Greg Erwin stays with Greg Biffle for a sophomore partnership in 2008.
Erwin started ‘07 as Robby Gordon’s crew chief. But Roush Fenway Racing needed a bit of a changed and in May, Erwin came to Biffle’s aid. Their first pairing was June 3 at Dover, where Biffle started 10th and finished sixth. It was Biffle’s best finish in seven races.
This crew chief has some experience battling from difficult positions. When he joined Gordon, for Erwin’s first crew chief duty, the team started outside the top 35 in points, so they had to race their way into the first few races. In only the team’s second year in ’06 they did not miss a race. The previous year he’d joined the team that had missed four races. Under his direction in ’05 they only missed two more races.
Erwin previously worked as an engineer and chief mechanic with Gordon when the two were at Team SABCO and Richard Childress Racing.
This Pennsylvania native’s auto racing start came with a small team his father owned in Hatboro.
