SADLER’S SUCCESSOR?

BY TEAM FORD RACING CORRESPONDENT

Long Pond, Pa. — NASCAR Busch Series driver David Gilliland showed up for a television interview Sunday at Pocono munching a bag of M&Ms, while proclaiming he still hasn’t made up his mind where he’ll drive next season.

But according to several published reports the young phenom, who made national headlines winning a Busch Series race at Sparta, Ky., last month in an unsponsored car, is high on the list of possible replacements for Elliott Sadler at the No. 38 Robert Yates Racing Ford Fusion.

The Yates crew is interested in Gilliland, sources tell Team Ford Racing, with veterans Ricky Rudd and Ward Burton as the team’s fallback position if they are unable to sign a young up-and-comer, Gilliland or someone else.
