Talladega, Ala. — Colin Braun, in a Ford F-15o for Roush Fenway Racing, got his fourth pole this year in Friday qualifying for Saturday afternoon’s Mountain Dew Camping World Truck Series 250. Braun, who recently turned 21, is now tied for the pole lead with former series champions Ron Hornaday and Mike Skinner.
Braun’s lap of 179.608 mph easily beat the 178.188 mph of Terry Cook and the 178.052 of Max Papis. The rest of the top-10 were Jason White, Aric Almirola, Todd Bodine, points runner-up Matt Crafton, rookie Tayler Malsam, Stacy Compton and Cup stat Kyle Busch.
Earlier this year Braun won poles in Daytona Beach, Clermont, Ind. and Madison, Ill. He goes into the 94-lap, 250-mile race sixth in points, but only 18 behind fourth-ranked Bodine. “Roush Fenway has had a lock on superspeedway poles the last few years, so this is good,” he said. “The crew did a fabulous job giving me a truck this good. It’s got great power and is a pleasure to drive.”
Three other members of Team Ford Racing qualified for the 250-miler. Rick Crawford will start 16th, teammate James Buescher 19th and rookie Ryan Hackett 27th.
