Mustang Cup North America crowned its first champions at Virginia International Raceway this past weekend. In the Dark Horse class, Will Lucas won both the Miles Cup and Parnelli Cup races as well as claiming both the season-long Miles Cup and Parnelli Cup Championships. Lucas had a near perfect season, earning every pole position and winning every race in the Miles Cup. In the Parnelli Cup, he claimed all but one race win.
In the Dark Horse Legends class, the championship battles went down to the wire. Craig Capaldi won Saturday’s Miles Cup race to clinch the series title , and he also went on to win Sunday’s Parnelli Cup race. Nick Smither scored two podiums in three races to close out the season and clinch the Parnelli Cup championship in Dark Horse Legends.
The final weekend of the season also saw two first time winners in the Mustang Cup series. In the Parnelli Cup Road America make up race, Kale Buhl earned his first career victory in the Dark Horse class and Leo Capaldi stood on the top step of the podium for the first time in Dark Horse Legends.
