Haupt Racing Team faces a doubleheader weekend of endurance and sprint race weekend of German GT3 racing.

Heading into the next round of the DTM championship at the technical, tight-twisting Sachsenring, September 11–13, HRT Ford Racing will unleash the 5.4-liter Coyote V8 Mustang GT3 against its sprint competition with Arjun Maini and Finn Wiebelhaus at the wheel.

Simultaneously, the team doubles down on its Green Hell program: Haupt Racing Team is fielding an additional Ford Mustang GT3 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for Nürburgring Langstrecken-Series (NLS) 8 and 9. Spearheading that campaign is the veteran duo of Nordschleife specialist Frank Stippler and endurance ace Vincent Kolb, who return to the iconic circuit looking to repeat their previous NLS race-winning heroics and claim victory in the Eifel.

FAST FACTS

  • Prior to the formation of DRM in 1972, Ford Works and privateer Ford Escort Twin Cams and Escort RS1600s earned multiple overall wins and podiums in international GDR touring car support races (often listed under the Presokal or East German Championship support events) at Sachsenring.
  • Last year’s Tourenwagen Legenden Sachsenring Classic Season Opener featured a victory by the historic Group 5 spec Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo, driven by Ronny Scheer. Peter and Stefan Mücke also earned multiple race victories and top podium spots across historic DRM and classic touring car showcases during the ADAC Sachsenring Classic events in the late 2010s and early 2020s with the Capri Turbo.
  • Stippler and Kolb won the overall during last year’s NLS campaign, as the two look to be repeat winners in the Mustang GT3.

DRIVER QUOTES

ARJUN MAINI, No. 36 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 –  “We still have a good position in the championship. On paper, the Sachsenring is not the easiest track for us. But we said that about other circuits, too. Let's see what we can do with all the improvements we've made and, hopefully, score some good points with our Ford Mustang GT3."

FINN WIEBELHAUS, No. 64 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 –  “I am really looking forward to my first race weekend at the Sachsenring. It’s a new track for me, and I can't wait to drive there for the first time and in the Mustang. Experiencing the atmosphere and racing in front of the fans will make it even more special."

FRANK STIPPLER, No. 64 Haupt Racing Team Ford Mustang GT3 –  “I'm happy to be racing again after a somewhat longer break — and to kick things off with a double header right away. We're hoping for conditions that are as favorable as possible for our Mustang GT3 so we can race to the finish on both days."

VINCENT KOLB, No. 64 Haupt Racing Team Ford Mustang GT3 –  “I am really looking forward to race the Mustang on the Nordschleife this Saturday and Sunday with Frank. Hopefully, the weather will be nice and we can race around the Nürburgring with lots of fans attending."
