TROY, MI – Like just about any other major metropolitan area in the United States, Metro Detroit boasts a long list of car shows taking place all across Southeastern Michigan every summer for a good part of the year. That’s because there are so many people who like to celebrate classic car ownership by attending cruise-ins and shows in and around The Motor City all summer long. One such celebration of car culture takes place some 30 minutes north of Detroit in Troy, Michigan, where a fun-filled car show has been a staple in the community for nearly two decades now.

The Troy Historic Village has hosted this all-make, all-models family-friendly show at the town’s Columbia Center, and this year’s annual “Troy Traffic Jam” car show drew nearly 400 classic, muscle, vintage and racing rides, with a good number of them from the Blue Oval. For this suburban Detroit community, however, the show is important because the funds raised by the event go to support the Troy Historical Society. The Society’s mission is to help all “learn from the past to understand the present and build a better future.”

Ford Marketing retiree and super enthusiast Bill Cook, who catches as many cars shows in the region for us as possible with his trusty camera in hand, sent us more than 100 photos form the show along with this report:

“After attending a Saturday car show I filled the weekend with the Troy Traffic Jam show on a Sunday. I participated last year with both my '70 and '13 Boss 302 Mustangs celebrating the Mustang 60th Anniversary. I had such a great time that I registered again this year with my Race Red '13 Boss 302. Race Cars were featured this year, drawing an amazing array of vehicles, including several that people were likely seeing in the wild for the first time, such as the Ford Mustang GTD. There were two 45-minute “Tech Talks” focused on street legal supercars, and Ford was represented by GTD Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall and Design Manager Anthony Colard. The show participants clearly enjoyed the insight as well as the cars. I strongly encourage checking out this great show if you live in Southeastern Michigan or are visiting the area in early August.”

Beyond the myriad of cars and vendors, there were plenty of activities for both car buffs and families alike, as hundreds of people spent the day touring the show field. Check out some of our favorite photos that Cook sent us from the Troy Traffic Jam show this past summer below:
