Mustang Cup Australia will crown its first set of champions at Sandown Raceway October 30 - November 1. The series will close out its inaugural season racing as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries finale weekend at the 3.104-kilometer (1.929-mile), 13-turn circuit.
As its first move outside of North America, Mustang Cup Australia has proven the scalability of Ford Racing’s one-make platform, the Mustang Dark Horse R. The successful debut opened the door to the recently announced Mustang Challenge Global Invitational Championship which will see a three-round title chase with races scheduled for Daytona, Spa-Franchopchamps and Bathurst in 2027.
Heading into the final weekend of the season, Josh Anderson leads the Dark Horse championship with 468 points, but Joe Fawcett in second trails him by only 44 points. In Dark Horse Legends, Keith Kassulke and John Goodacare are separated by only six points. In Dark Horse Juniors, Joe Fawcett leads the championship with 424 points.
In the penultimate round of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park, Oliver Wickham led from flag-to-flag in the Johnson Cup race to bring home his second victory of the season. In the Ambrose Cup race, Wickham led much of the race, but championship leader Anderson took the lead with less than 20 minutes remaining. In the Dark Horse Legends class, Ben Dunn won both of the weekend’s races.
