Mustang Cup USA has already seen tremendous growth in its first two years. Looking ahead to year three, we plan to continue on this path of development. As part of that mission, we aim to give our competitors the best experience possible, which starts with giving them the best racing format at the best tracks.

Today, I’m excited to share the 2027 Mustang Cup USA calendar as well as some changes to the weekend format that will further improve the already great experience our racers have at each event.

Mustang Cup USA will visit six incredible tracks across North America in 2027, and it will all kick off at Sebring International Raceway February 26-28. This will be the second year in row we start our season at Sebring, and we hope it’s a tradition we can continue in the years to come.

For round two of the season, Mustang Cup USA will travel to Barber Motorsports Park April 2-4, racing as part of the IndyCar Series Alabama event weekend. This event was a great success this year, and we’re looking forward to returning to the pristine facility in 2027.

The midway point of the season will take us to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut May 13-15, with the series returning to the track after a year away. We will hold round four of 2027 June 11-13 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), a picturesque track that allows for great racing.

Following round four at VIR, Mustang Cup USA will break until late July. This acts as our “global invitational pause,” and it is included in the 2027 schedule for each of our one-make series: Mustang Challenge North America, Mustang Cup Australia, and Mustang Cup USA.

It ensures any competitors who want to take part in the 2027 Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational June 24-27 can do so without missing any rounds of the championships in which they compete full time.

Mustang Cup USA returns to racing July 23 -25 at Watkins Glen International as part of the GRIDLIFE event weekend. This will be the first time Mustang Cup USA takes on Watkins Glen, and it will also be the first time any Mustang one-make series has a presence at a GRIDLIFE event.

We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to be a part of such an exciting approach to motorsport with GRIDLIFE. It truly positions us as part of the racing lifestyle movement.

The final round of the 2027 season will take place at Road America August 13-15. We can think of no better venue to close out our season than America’s National Park of Speed, a track that is both immensely fun and incredibly challenging. It is also deeply entrenched in the Ford Racing one-make tradition.

A New Weekend Experience

At each of the 2027 rounds, competitors will experience a different weekend format than what we currently have in Mustang Cup USA. The new weekend schedule will feature two 40-minute practice sessions, two 15-minute qualifying sessions, and four 30-minute races, with the Miles Cup and Parnelli Cup championships each having two races per weekend.

There are a few reasons for these changes. The first is that this new format allows for more racing, which means more fun. Additionally, for racers getting their start, it allows them to gain more competitive racing experience, which will only help them as they move up our Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid.

Having more, shorter races throughout the weekend will also make it easier for our Cup Classic entries to compete without putting too much wear and tear on their classic Mustangs. For those sharing a Dark Horse R, this format ensures that both drivers get a more equal number of laps throughout a weekend, making it more fun and rewarding for everyone.

Between the calendar and the new, exciting weekend format, we expect 2027 is going to be the best year yet for Mustang Cup USA, and I hope that you join us.
