A pair of Ford Mustang GTs will be fighting for the title when the Grand Final of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship is raced in Adelaide.

Chaz Mostert leads the blue team after the Supercars semi-final at Sandown Park Raceway in Melbourne, and is joined by rookie Kai Allen as the Ford contenders for the final showdown.

Five Mustang runners arrived at Sandown with a shot at the final four, with Matt Payne and Cam Waters only eliminated in the dying stages of a torrid Sunday stoush after Thomas Randle made an earlier exit.

Mostert and his WAU team mate Ryan Wood swept qualifying for the first of two 250-kilometre contests and finished 1-3 on Saturday after dominating under fine and sunny skies.

“It’s a real team win. We’ll celebrate hard,” said Mostert, whose victory was his third straight win in Supercars.

Sunday was tougher for all of the Mustang runners as vicious weather, including a mid-race downpour, was matched by take-no-prisoners racing.

Mostert was best of the Fords again in fourth, ahead of Brodie Kostecki from DJR and Allen, whose solid run got him over the line for a spot in the Grand Final with Grove Racing.

There was disappointment for Waters and Payne, who both sustained damage after tangling, although there were still plenty of positives.

“We’re in the fight,” Mostert said of his position for the Grand Final.

The grand final of the 2025 Supercars Championship series will be raced at the Adelaide 500 in South Australia on November 27-30.

TEAM OWNER/TEAM PRINCIPAL QUOTES

CARL FAUX, Walkinshaw Andretti United
- “We’re really happy. It’s been nearly 10 years since we last won at Sandown, so to have a front-row lock-out and double podium on Saturday was great.
- “Ryan Wood did a really good job to wash off the disappointment of not making the semi-finals and was the ultimate team mate to Chaz Mostert as he helped him win that race.
- “On Sunday it was unfortunate that Ryan had a problem with a front wheel clip and Chazzy made a very uncharacteristic mistake.
- “We've prepped all year for the new Finals series and going to Adelaide for the title decider. Now we’ve just go there and execute.”

DAVID NOBLE, Dick Johnson Racing
- “The weekend was a little frustrating but Brodie Kostecki’s consistency, with a pair of top-five finishes, was really pleasing.
- “Everyone in the team is disappointed that we couldn’t get Will Davison further up the results in his milestone weekend. To make 600 races is a huge achievement.
- “The recent consistency is driving us forward to Adelaide and there are still three races to be won. I think we have to get on the podium on one of the days.
- “The other thing to look forward to in Adelaide is watching Rylan Gray, who was with us in the garage this weekend, wrap up his Super2 career in a Mustang. Everything points to him getting a win and the championship, giving him a great foundation as he arrives at DJR for 2026.”

STEPHEN GROVE, Grove Racing
- “We had two cars in contention for the Grand Final and to get one into the final four is satisfying. Sunday didn’t go Matt Payne’s way but at least we have Kai Allen into the decider - in his rookie year.
- “If you look at the point score, Matt was still second for the year but that’s not the way things work for the Grand Final. And he’s got plenty of years ahead of him.
- “Looking ahead to Adelaide we’re working to get Kai as far up the field as possible, so he can challenge for the championship. And it’s another opportunity - or three - for Matt to finish the year with a win.”

TIM BLANCHARD, Blanchard Racing Team
- “We’ve been making good progress in recent races so, from that perspective, we weren’t as competitive as we hoped.
- “James Courtney’s side of the garage was in the mix all weekend and finishing seventh on Sunday was a solid result.
- “We struggled a far bit with Aaron Cameron’s car on Saturday but we did a lot of homework overnight and the weather helped him get up to 12th.
- “We want to continue to move forward in Adelaide and also send JC out on a high on his last weekend as a full-timer in Supercars. From the team’s perspective, we’re also looking to build on the foundations this year as we look ahead to 2026.”

ROD NASH, Tickford Racing
- “We didn't get Cam Waters or Thomas Randle through to the Grand Final but we’re still happy as a team. To go through the second-last weekend of the year and have two cars in the semi-final mix is something to be proud of.
- “The Saturday race was not good for either car and we paid the price, but we went in hard on Sunday and Cam really got into it.
- “Good on Waters and Matty Payne. They were both racing for the Grand Final, got their elbows out, banged wheels and didn’t back down.
- “It was a good example of what the Finals series is all about - exciting racing.
- “Now we’re going to Adelaide to win in Adelaide. It’s the second-best event of the year after Bathurst, the Friday night race will be great, and you go there to race hard and win.”
