Mustang runners left the best until last at Symmons Plains in Tasmania as Ford continued to dominate the 2026 Australian Supercars Championship.

While three Ford Mustang drivers took podium places on Saturday, Mustangs swept the podium in the feature race on Sunday afternoon.

Broc Feeney converted pole position into an all-the way win ahead of Grove Racing pair Matt Payne and Kai Allen. The win extended Feeney's lead in the championship.

“Stoked. It’s good to get back on the top step on the podium,” said Feeney.

“There are not many races these days where you get to push flat-out all the time. Having fun out there, pushing all the way to the finish, was awesome.”

Payne celebrated with his team-mate but admitted he had no answer to Feeney’s speed.

“He had really good pace and we couldn’t quite run him down. Not quite quick enough today. But still really solid points,” said Payne, who sits second on the championship table.

The sprint weekend format again featured twin 50-lap sprints on Saturday, where Brodie Kostecki also added to his podium tally for the season, but he had a troubled run on Sunday thanks to fuelling issues in the pits and was 12th.

The trip to Tasmania produced a weekend of major anniversaries, with the 100th race at the historic Tasmanian track on the outskirts of Launceston, the 100th race since the introduction of Gen3 Supercars, and the 45th anniversary of Dick Johnson’s touring car championship debut – a race he won in his famous ’Tru-Blu’ Ford XD Falcon.

The 2026 Supercars Championship season continues in the top end with the Darwin Triple Crown, from June 19-21.

TEAM OWNER/TEAM PRINCIPAL QUOTES

STEPHEN GROVE, Grove Racing

  • “The weekend was solid for us. Very good.
  • “Symmons Plain has usually been a tough and difficult track for us, so we’re happy with the progress we’re making this season with the car, the drivers and the team.
  • “But we’re still definitely not where we want to be. We need to keep working hard and catch the benchmark, which is still Triple Eight.”

MARK DUTTON, Triple Eight Race Engineering

  • “It was a tough one. We didn’t have the fastest cars all weekend but to win on Sunday with outright speed proved we got it right. The engineers have done a great job.
  • “We worked super-super hard before getting to tassie but still didn’t roll out fast enough. So we had to chip away in each session to get to the front.
  • “For sure we’re not about to rest on our laurels and think we’ve got it nailed. It shows how tight it is. It’s not easy.
  • “We’re still learning the Mustang and it’s good to be racing forward.”

TIM BLANCHARD, Blanchard Racing Team

  • “It was a bit of damage limitation. At the start of the weekend we didn’t have enough pace and didn’t do a good enough job in qualifying.
  • “But Jimmy Golding moved forward six or seven places on Sunday and Aaron Cameron made it into the Top 10 Shootout, so what could have been a disaster was not too bad in the end. Patchy is a good way to put it.
  • “We’re happy with where we’ve been running, with good race pace, so now we’re looking forward to Darwin."

ANDREW JONES, Objective Racing

  • “We bunkered down for a couple of weeks before Tassie and we’ve seen some good upside. Our internal processes are moving along nicely and the priority is still to put the building blocks in place.
  • “We’re still early in this journey, so Sunday was tough with a sensor issue in the engine during qualifying but we have a rookie driver and we’re seeing encouraging signs”
  • “The real highlight of the weekend was Jackson Walls' speed in wet-drying conditions in qualifying for Race 1. He sat in the top five for the majority of it.”

MARK FENNING, Dick Johnson Racing

  • “It’s been a frustrating weekend. Despite good pace and a podium for Brodie Kostecki on Saturday he got caught up in another driver’s accident.
  • “Rylan Gray continues to develop, qualifying just outside the Top 10 on both days.
  • “On Sunday a fuel flow issue cost both cars dearly. We will understand the fuel flow issue and move on to Darwin.”

SIMON BROOKHOUSE, Tickford Racing

  • “We’re chasing two-tenths. It doesn’t sound like much, but around Symmons Plains it’s quite a bit. We’re missing that last little bit of pace with both Cam Waters and Thomas Randle.
  • “So we had a tough weekend, but no real damage done. It’s not like we’re going to the back of the field. We’re consistent but just not quick enough and not able to push towards the front.
  • “Cam's new car came through unscathed, which is great, so now we’re back to the shop to unpack things so we can move forward in Darwin.”
