Covered in a special Ford Racing blue and white camouflage livery, the 5.4-liter Coyote V8-powered Ford Hypercar broke the morning silence at the Paul Ricard circuit in south-east France late last week. The deep rumble announced Blue Oval’s return to top class of international sports car racing – FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar – in the most tangible way yet… on track testing.
The Hypercar testing commenced on Wednesday, August 5, with several days of shakedown testing. Those initial check laps proceeded smoothly and according to plan. The team worked methodically through a comprehensive program to activate and verify each control system. With all systems now fully functional, full track testing is underway this week and next.
Ford Racing Factory Drivers Matt Campbell, Mike Rockenfeller and Tom Blomqvist were on-site for the initial shakedown stage with Campbell and Logan Sargeant taking the wheel for the first track test on Monday August 17. All three drivers will rotate throughout the test. Seb Priaulx and Nick Yelloly will have their opportunity at the wheel as the intensive testing program rolls out ahead of the debut of America’s Race Team on the grid of the 2027 WEC season opener currently scheduled for Qatar on March 27.
