The Ford Mustang continued to rack up wins in GT4 Australia at Sydney Motorsport Park for the penultimate round of the series.
In each of the three classes, the Mustang GT4 was competitive and ensured that Ford Racing customers walked away with trophies following the pair of one-hour races.
GT4 Australia’s annual trip to Sydney provides the unique opportunity to race under lights during the evening in a spectacular setting.
Multispares Racing starred in the opening race held in twilight conditions, with Supercars young gun Aaron Cameron and Lochie Dalton finishing third in Silver Cup.
Cody Burcher and Dean Campbell finished second in Silver-Am Cup in their Method Motorsport entry, while Gomersall Motorsport’s Glenn Walker dominated the Am Cup to finish a clear winner in the class.
Warm conditions failed to worry the Ford Mustang in the second race of the weekend, with competitors scoring two out of the three class wins.
Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx pairing Blake Tracey and George Miedecke just fell short of the Silver Cup victory after a great start to the race.
Victory for the Ford Mustang came courtesy of the Method Motorsport entry of Burcher and Campbell in Silver-Am Cup. The duo finished 18-seconds ahead of their opposition in a commanding win.
This result was backed up by Gomersall Motorsport’s Aaron Seton and debutant co-driver Anthony Di Mauro finishing third.
Walker doubled up by adding another victory in the Am Cup, with Jarrod Keyte scoring third in the Ekebol MPC Ford Mustang.
GT4 Australia heads to Melbourne’s Sandown Raceway for its season finale on October 30-November 1 where many Ford Mustang teams are in title contention.

“I think we did quite well all weekend. There was a lot of chatter about the tyre degradation situation, but the Ford Mustang GT4 held its own and it was really balanced throughout both hour-long races.
“We had our strengths and weaknesses like any other of our opponents, but the Mustang was really enjoyable to drive.
“I’m excited for Sandown, the Mustang has got the big V8 and you can attack the kerbs in these things, so I’m keen to muscle my way around there.”

“We’re proud of the results we achieved. I think second on Sunday was better than what we probably expected.
“I’m very pleased to have a strong result in the Mustang because Sydney generally has high tyre degradation and is tough for us, but we managed to turn it around and it was a great package in the end.
“To run very cleanly in second and to have Blake (Tracey) deliver on his promise was great. I’m proud of the team, I don’t think there were any chances that we didn’t grab.
“I think Sandown will conversely be a strong round for us due to the size of the Mustang and the ability to ride the kerbs, so we’re heading there with a full head of steam.
“I think wins are on the cards and if we can do that, then the Silver Cup title is possible. We’re going to give it everything.”

“It was a really good weekend. We probably should have won in the first race, but that was up to a couple of mistakes by me in the final laps and I couldn’t get past the class winner.
“Our strategy was to be conservative early in the race to make sure we were stronger at the end and this proved successful.
“I think it will boil down to who does the best job at Sandown and the team that does that will win.”
Glenn Walker
“I couldn’t be happier. We set a goal during the weekend and it was to complete the sweep, which we have achieved.
“It was a stretched target, but to not only take two wins and take the title lead heading to Sandown is perfect for us.
