SOUTH LYON, Mich. – We know it’s not easy to be thinking of having fun at car shows and motor festivals at this time of year, especially with a recent “Polar Vortex” wreaking winter weather havoc over a good portion of the country for a while now. That’s why we think the time might be right for a look back at colorful car show full of Mustangs last summer to help you chase away those snowy winter blues. To that end, we invite you to scroll though the photo gallery below taken last July at an event in the trendy little city of South Lyon, Michigan, located about 40 miles northwest of The Motor City. Downtown South Lyon has been the home of the Lake Street Cruise-In since 2012, held on each fourth Wednesday night in May, June, August, and September. The July event is special, as it’s known as the All-Day Motorfest – so that’s the one our roving Ford super-enthusiast and car show photographer, Mark Storm, decided to attend to bring you these photos.

People came from miles around to see some 250 vehicles representing everything from ‘50’s classics, hot rods, rat rods and trucks, to ‘60’s through ‘80’s muscle cars, along with sports cars, motorcycles, and maybe even a dragster or race car or two. The town’s own Cruzn' DJ Paul Peters played a wide variety of music as showgoers dined or shopped at the local businesses in town while enjoying the cars on display. Awards were given out for Best Paint, Best Engine, and Best in Show. From the many photos that Mark submitted, we pulled out only the Mustangs to show you – hoping those would be the fastest way to warm you up for the upcoming car show season. So hang in there a little while longer – and enjoy the pics in our gallery!
